Rulers, Guides and Grid

Rulers, Guides and Grid: Rulers help you position images or elements precisely. When visible, rulers appear along the top and left side of the active window. Markers in the ruler display the pointer’s position when you move it. Changing the ruler origin (the (0, 0) mark on the top and left rulers) lets you measure from a specific point on the image. The ruler origin also determines the grid’s point of origin. Guides and the grid help us position images or elements precisely. Guides appear as non-printing lines that float over the image. we move and remove guides. We also lock them so that they don’t move. The grid is useful for laying out elements symmetrically. The grid appears by default as non-printing lines but can also be displayed as dots. Applications of Guides and Grids:   Selections, selection borders, and tools snap to a guide or the grid when dragged within 8 screen (not image) pixels. Guides also snap to the grid when moved. LEVELS AND CURVES

LEVELS:                 Levels are used to set the shadows, mid tone etc.  O pen an image on Photoshop window. Select image menu on menu bar than adjustments than levels. A dialogue box will appear on screen which shows three pointers which indicates three optimum. The black triangle indicates shadows and gray triangle indicates mid tone and white triangle indicates highlights. In the channel menu different options are provided in drop down list. Make sure select on preview, which gives current adjustments on your picture. CURVES: Curves are to  similar to levels, it gives more power to control shadows highlights and mid tones. One of the simplest adjustment we can make with curves is increasing the contrast. Go to image menu and than adjustments,than curves. Zooming Panning

ZOOMING &PANNING: Panning and Zooming are the fundamental tools of Photoshop which assist with making very  detail  Adjustment and edits image. Zooming & Panning are mainly useful for retouching image in Photoshop. Our image quickly and easily zoom in and zoo m out, and panning one area to another. Using the zoom tool : 1.Select the Zoom tool (magnifying glasses) from the left tool bar and click on the image zoom at desired level. 2. To zoom out the option bar click on (­-)minus symbol than click on image  Shortcut:    + for zoom in                   -  for zoom out  Using scrubby tool: 1.Open image in Photoshop. 2.Click and hold the mouse. 3.Move left to zoom out, move right to zoom in. Image size & Resolution

Image size and  resolution: Photoshop provide us a chance to readjust resolution and size. I f we plan to insert an image on presentation or web page we may need resize   the image,  we will able to resize image by two ways    1. On the time of creation of the canvas.    2. Color modes

Color modes : In Photoshop we have different color modes like RGB, CMYK, Gray scale, Bitmap, lab ect.  To set color mode, Go to image menu on menu bar than select mode option than select required mode. RGB : RGB color mode is most versatile and widely used color mode for Photoshop.  I t is the color mode that which digital cameras save your photos. R-RED G-GREEN B-BLUE The combinations of Red, Green, Blue will give different colors.  This mode is choice for export to the web, mobile devices, inkjet printers  etc… CMYK : In CMYK color mode each pixels is assigned a percentage value for each of the processors inks.  Pure white is generated when all four component  values 0%.  For black color all percentages will be zero like cyan, magenta, yellow and black only contain 100%.  CMYK is also a standard color mode which represent exact range of color    GRAY   SCALE: Gray ...

Background changing Step 1: Take new file with respective measurements As shown in figure. Step2 : Open your image.   Step 3: Cut your image with pen tool. select total image with pen tool and press Ctrl+Enter     Step 4: Drag your image to background image Step 5 : Paste pic on backgr5oound image.

Red Eye Removal The digital camera flash is located right above the lens. When we take photo at right time, the reflection of flash on eye causes the red eye. we will able to fix red eye easily in Photoshop. Step 1 : Open a photo on Photoshop which has red eye and want to correct that picture. Step 2 : Select the zoom and zoom the eye. Step 3 : Drag the rectangle or circular marquee around the pupil of eye. Step 4 : Make sure background and front ground colours are black and white respectively. S tep 5 : Go to heeling brush tool   click on black triangle and select red eye tool or buy using brush tool. Step 6 : Click on the red part of the eye and paint now zoom out the picture and save.

Create a web template for GIET College. Step 1: Create a new file with dimensions and click on ok. Step 2: Download GIET logo and put it in your new opened window at left corner. Open logo in photo shop and drag it into your new window. Step 3: Insert the buttons Home, Academics, Admissions, Examinations by using type tool and etc.   Step 4: Insert the other buttons GIETALKS, Employee Login, E-learning and etc by using Marquee tool and type tool. Step 5: Insert image into the image window by drag and drop. Step 6: If u want to add any extra items, you can add it.

Create Broacher for GIET Degree College Step 1: Go to Photoshop file menu and click new option. It will displays new dialog box. In that dialog box enter the size of the broacher (ex: width=6, Height=8). New document will be created. Step 2:   This document will be used for front side of the broacher. Now I am creating broacher for our college. Step 3: Change the background of the document by inserting a good looking designed image.   Step 4: On the top of the document put horizontal typing tool and type college name Ø Highlight the college name entered Ø Insert college logo below the college name Ø Type address of the college Ø Insert any images. Photoshop screen modes

Screen Mode controls how much of Photoshop's interface is displayed on your screen. There are  three Screen Modes . 1.      Standard screen mode 2.      Full screen mode with menu bar 3.      Full screen mode The  Standard Screen Mode  displays the entire interface. The screen mode appears on screen when we start Photoshop is called Standard screen mode. It's the mode Photoshop uses by default, and the one that takes up the most room. The Full Screen Mode with Menu Bar  option that hides  some , but not all, of the interface elements. This screen mode use when user working with big pictures or panorama. Full Screen Mode  in Photoshop which  completely  hides the interface, giving your image full access to the entire screen. This screen mode is useful for to view our picture on screen.
